Jaisalmer, The “Golden City” of Rajasthan is named after Maharawal Jaisal Singh, a Rajput king who founded the city in 1156 AD. Jaisalmer is situated in the western Rajasthan amid Thar Desert. Jaisalmer is bounded on the north by Bikaner, on the west & the south-west by the Pakistani border, on the south by Barmer and Jodhpur, and on the east by Jodhpur and Bikaner Districts.The people of Jaisalmer usually speak Hindi and Marwari language and prefer to wear traditional dress. The city of Jaisalmer has a rich cultural heritage, which is very well reflected in its rich cuisine.
